Vision

Our practice has been serving the families of Southern Arizona since 1982 and is known for our innovative approach to the health care of women. Our mission, as the Birth and Women's Health Center, is to provide innovative women's wellness programs that foster empowerment and respectfully guide women and their families through the transitions of life.

For maternity care, we offer prenatal visits with Certified Nurse Midwives and two excellent choices for your baby's birth: The Birth Center and Tucson Medical Center. We believe that pregnancy, birth and postpartum will be more fun and healthy experiences with more knowledge. We offer classes for pregnant women and their families. In addition, we have a lending library and a video library for further education opportunities.

We are excited to also offer an innovative model of group prenatal care. Centering Pregnancy groups combine pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care along with your prenatal care. Groups are generally scheduled in the evenings and provide an opportunity to meet with other women and families whose babies are due around the same time. Individual appointments are also scheduled to allow each family to meet all the midwives.

We are dedicated to:

  • Sustaining the Birth Center, a special place where families feel safe and supported throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
  • Fostering empowerment, trust and confidence in women's innate abilities to manage the transitions of life - birth, menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, and aging.
  • Supporting the practice of midwifery and its philosophy of highly personal care.
  • Encouraging change in our current system of health care by providing a model for community-based, family-centered health care in which patients have a voice in the management of their health and wellness.
  • Creating and managing innovative wellness program for women and their families in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
